Apple Snail Maintaining Cycle?

I am setting up an rcs tank and I am transferring my sponge filter from my 15 gallon into it. So my question is, can I add my snail to maintain the cycle until the shrimp get here or should I just put the sponge in the day I get the shrimp?

What size of tank is it?

Apple snails need large tanks, right Gypsy13?

I’ve still got a hard time thinking of the little guys being sold as “apple” snails as apple snails. Mysteries need either lots of room or lots of water changes. Heavy but good bioload.
To answer the OPs question, I’d wait for the day the rcs are arriving. You can get everything up and going while they’re floating on the water. The biggest problem I have with adding a snail to keep the bb going in the filter is feeding the snail. Over or underfeeding can disrupt the bb in the filter. Just my two cents.

Ok, so I will add it when the shrimp arrive, and it was labeled as an apple snail, not the huge invasive species snail but the little 2” yellow snail, it’ll eventually go in my 150 gallon indoor pond

Yes I know. Everyone calls them apple snails now. Same family. Crabapple maybe. But once you've raised Apple snails, the crabapples don’t come close. I say that but then one of my “mysteries” is now bigger than a 50 cent piece! Guess I’ll have to start calling them crabapples or minI apples.
Whatever, post pics when you get your new bbs settled in!
