Apistogramma Panduro and Nijsseni price

How expensive would a single specimen of Apistogramma Panduro or Nijsseni be? They are a less common apisto species, although I am not looking for any really pretty color morphs or anything. In fact, I am actually looking for ones that are tan with black splotching, and with little to no color. Also, are they common enough to be found at an LFS, or will I have to buy them online?

You would be extremely lucky if you could find a specific Apisto you are looking for in a fish store. Incidentally, I saw a pair of Cacatoo Apistos in a LFS today, I remember a $35, but not sure if it was for each or for the pair. (I went to 6 stores today.) But Cacatoo are relatively popular. I think others may be harder to find.

Misc. Apistos go for $50-$80 a pair online (rare or wild caught more expernsive).

Those prices are definitely for wild fish or serious color morphs. Have you ever seen a price tag for panduro or nijsenni though?

$30 to $50 a pair is what i generally seen plus shipping. The problem is they are usually found at smaller shops which have higher shipping cost (no bulk discounts) but occasionally I see them at aquaticarts and wetspot. Our local store hasn't carried any apistogramma in the 1.5 years i've lived here.

ebay sometimes has them also and aquaticclarity always has them but their shipping cost is not cheap. Of course if you live near one of those stores you can avoid shipping but being in las-vegas your cheapest route would be to find a store in california that has them in stock and spend a day driving.

You're going to pay $40-$50 a pair for tank raised nijsseni or panduro, plus shipping. Personally, I would consider that price range a bargain. And no one is going to want to sell a single fish and ship it.

There really is no enjoyment in a single Apisto. They tend to be very shy when alone, and males don't show their full glory without a girl to display for.

When I was breeding Panduros I was getting 15$ apiece for them IIRC and the shop was selling them for 50$ a pair. This was ~3 years ago.

The LFS loves apistos so they usually have different varieties from common to "The internet doesn't know what this is". Now that I'm not breeding them I haven't seen a panduro there since.

One of the stores I order from has a decent apisto selection... around 10 bucks for panduros and 23 bucks for hongsloi... the panduros seem to be one of the cheaper options but I'm in Canada so that might not be as helpful as you'd like

wetspot currently has both for $30 and $35 for an attempted pair (they are young). Shipping is $40 from them but they have a good stocking in case there are other fishes you want.

I got my cacutuoides super reds from wet spot. The pair I got wasn't that young. They started breeding pretty much as soon as I got them in their tank. I'd maybe be concerned about sneaker males, but they seem to wait until they can sex them with some amount of certainty before they sell them. My small issue with ordering Apistos from them, is that they weren't willing to consider letting me buy a 2nd female for a harem.

I was only asking for the price of one just to get the general cost of them without any group discounts or anything. I intend to keep a pair.
