Api test kit with kordon rapid cure

Received my API freshwater master test kit today. I am currently in the middle of ich treatment with kordon rapid cure. My water is blue. Can I accurately test my water or will the color or medicine skew the results.

The colour of your water is due to the chemicals in your ich treatment so that is quite normal. I think the only thing that might get a little affected is your pH but only by about 0.3 or so, so it would not be throwing you off to badly.

But the ammonia test that is yellow, will blue water make it look green? Was thinking maybe the colors on finished tests might be off?

I would think test not accurate at all with dye based meds in water ?
Hard enough with normal conditions to form a guess, but with water that is blue already ...
I would not think you will get accurate readings ..

Agree with coralbandit. If there is a dye in the water, it sure will skew the results.

Here is something interesting, out of curiosity I tested my tap water and got 1ppm ammonia as well... thoughts?

Well then it is probably ammonium because ammonia is unacceptable in most taps.

I tested the nitrate of the tap water and got 0. Is it possible my tank is cycled and the ammonia reading in tap water is throwing my test off?

Chlorine and ammonia are added to tap water as disinfectant which form chloramine if I am not mistaken...

The screenshot specifies nothing about ammonium.

I think ammonium is usually added to tap as extra disinfectant. Look up your water source and see if they add ammonia/ammonium to your tap.

Whether you have ammonia or ammonium in your water is determined mostly by pH level and somewhat by temperature. It is also possible to have both ammonium and ammonia in the tank at the same time. A good rule of thumb is that as the pH level drops below 7.0 ammonia starts turning into ammonium, and by the time your pH gets down to 6.0, all ammonia has turned into ammonium. At a pH of 7.0 and above ammonia stays as ammonia.

But like I said, this is just a rule of thumb and water temp also effects this. If you google it, you can find a chart that takes pH and temp into account.

My ph is high out of the tap and I have run my tank up to 82-84 for the ich treatment
