So I know that API test kit reagaents have a 2-4 year life span in the bottle, but are there storage methods that can dictate the longevity of the chemicals? My bottles (specifically pH and nitrate) say 2022, but my reagents already have signs of expiration according to my results I’m getting. Over the winter I left my test kits in my basement in fairly cold temp for a while. Could that decrease the life of the chemicals!?

I would think cold storage would increase how long it lasts if it did anything, cold temperatures do slow down any chemical reactions. Hmmm, maybe it caused a small amount of separation between the chemicals in each mix? After you got it back out did you just shake the bottles according to the instructions? You'd probably need to shake it hard for a good few minutes

I'm still using some that are 10 years old (or more) but I did replace the nitrate test recently.
