API master test kit vs individual tests?

Hi, I'm currently using the tetra liquid test kits for ph, nitrites and nitrates. I've since discovered that a lot of people advise the API kits so I'm going to swap to those. Am I ok ordering the master test kit or would I be better ordering individual API kits?

Much thanks, Amy.

It's a better value to just order the master test kit. That's what I always do and many if not most people on this forum.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't come with the GH and KH test kit though, if you want that one you can order it......

I wouldn't say that GH and KH testing is necessary in all circumstances. But that would be important if you live in an area with soft water, since it may be prone to fluctuation. Where I live, the water's hardness is pretty high all year round so I don't really bother to test GH or KH.

Theres also freshwater tests for calcium, phosphates, and copper if you want to get all inclusive. But the main ones you need are pH/High range pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate.

Right ok, no idea on what the water hardness is here! I've ordered the master kit, I'll order the others next. What shall I go for first on the extra ones?

Much thanks, Amy

Oh I just saw that the GH and KH come in the same kit so ignore that last question. I'll order that next. As you can probably tell I'm extremely new to all this!

Much thanks, Amy

Thank you Dom. Freshwater tank, Juwel Rio 125. I Inherited it a few weeks back. Contains mollies, platys, ruby barbs, guppies and tetras. Oh and 2 rabbit snails, 2 khulI loachs and a bristlenose pleco. I have 1 large plant in there and 3 small ones, also one attached to driftwood. A couple more pieces of bogwood (1 large and one small) caves and hidey places. Anything else you can recommend?

Much thanks, Amy

Oh I meant to say the tank is running the original Bioflow 3 system as well as an additional stingray 10, and the base contains gravel. The temp runs steady at 25.

Much thanks, Amy
