APi Hardness test Kit - GH/KH General & Carbonate Hardness

I have the test kit with all the insructions -

in a 5ml test tube - drop until the water changes into a certain color.

my KH test required 10-drops; table at the end gives reading as below.
# of drops - 10
dKH - 10
ppm GH/KH - 179
What does these mean?

I still have to test the GH.

We will appreciate whatver input can be given on this matter.

So long as you have at least 4 drops with each kit your tank's pH will be stable. The more drops needed the harder the water.

The conversion table is giving you the PPM levels. Basically 1 drop is 17.9 ppm.

GH measures the mineral content of water and KH measures the carbonate levels.

Hope that helps.

I have 10-drops for KH - does that make my PH unstable?

will measure the GH tonight & post tomorrow.

Thank you.

Quite the opposite. You will have stable pH.

However water will be harder - in this case?

Water is labeled hard once it reaches 200 PPM, so you have only moderately hard water; which is perfect for most aquarium fish
