Anything about Cigar Sharks

HI I think I have two cigar sharks in my tank and I would like as much info as possible on cigar sharks (freshwater kind).
Mine are approximately 13 inches and 10 inches believed to be male and female.
Anything on them would be helpful, also I am thinking of selling them at some point and would like to know how much I should sell the pair for.

You'll have some luck piecing info together from the following Google search terms:

• red-finned cigar shark
• Leptobarbus hoevenii (older scientific name, mistaken identity)
• Leptobarbus rubripinna (correct scientific name)

As for how much to sell them for, that's dependent on your local market at the time you're ready to sell; prices in one city or country aren't always applicable elsewhere, and prices change over time with supply/demand. But to give you a rough idea, using older data from the US:

Be aware that they grow far too large (20-30" / 50-75cm) for most home aquariums, so you might have trouble finding a buyer that's capable of housing them. Unless your goal is just to get rid of them by passing them off onto the first person with money, finding an LFS with huge tanks or donation to a local aquarium might be your best route.

 

Cigar Sharks, Sultan Fish info?

Hi, I have two cigar sharks and need to know more about them. I bought them with a 50 gallon tank with four other fish and they are growing fast. I believe from what I've found out the are male and female. One is 13 inches and the other 10/11 inches. What I need to know is just general info about them and approximate resale value as a pair due to the fact my tank is to small for them.
