I dropped in an algae wafer in my tank for my nerite snail and my guppies are fighting over it.

Does anyone elses guppies do this? Probably shouldn't have dropped it in so soon after feeding time.

Mine go after anything I drop in the tank. They even pick at the snello.

My guppies love snello, which has algae in it. I drop it in before bed when all the tank lights are off. On a side note, did your nerite actually eat the wafer? I think most people (including myself) say theirs won't touch them, just the stuff that grows naturally.

Our guppies will eat anything that even remotely resembles food

I'm not sure if my nerite actually will eat it. But I've been cutting back on my lights after a terrible algae outbreak, and I'm worried my nerite doesn't have enough to eat, so about once a week I drop in spinach or an algae water. I figure if he's truely hungry he will eat it.
