Anyone made a terrace in their tank?

Just wondering if anyone's made a terrace in their tank, & maybe how they managed it. I've got a hex tank, so I thought that could be a neat idea to add some additional ground area. Penn Plax makes one, but as a corner piece it wouldn't work in my tank & when I saw it in real life it looked pretty fake/cheap. What's nice about it is that it allows for swimming area underneath the platform though, which is what I'd like to do. The entire back half of my tank is a terrace now & while I like the 2 different ground levels, it doesn't add any actual ground area as it's 1 solid ledge basically. I'd be interested to hear from anyone whose managed to make something like I described, & a picture would be really cool. Thanks guys.

Man, that guy does some good work. I'm not nearly handy enough to do something like that. If I even tried my fish would need a new home for a while. I wonder if I could do something w/ natural rock?

Rock would work if you used slate. Slate can be glued together too.

perhaps a sheet of glass glued to some decorative greek columns?

as the supports
use on the edges of the glass to hide the glass

Those sand banks are pretty cool. I did something like that w/ a reptile wall/water dish in my tank. I wonder what the height is?
