Anyone know if this betta looks too aggressive?

Excuse the tank mess, almost cleaning day.
tank is 10 gallon
I have had this betta for about 2 weeks now and he’s been alone in the tank for 1 week. The second week when he settled in I decided to try my luck and add a snail and shrimp in there to see if he would be aggressive or not. He really doesn’t care about the snail or shrimp as long as they’re on the bottom. But he will flare and make himself look big if the snail decides to come up near the top of the tank. It’s a pretty planted tank and will have more as things are growing well and I am propagating. He never really bites anything in there but will make it known he doesn’t like them in his territory. So question is, should I even bother trying my luck with other fish?

The snail is new, maybe he will just get used to it and stop doing it.

Honestly I might have to take it out.. at this point he has been messing around with it for a good hour.. might just be stressing him out now

Could also be that he’s getting territorial? I see him building a nest and he likes to hang out there a lot

If he keeps at it I would remove the snail. Some bettas are just jerks to any tank mate. Also it is better to put a betta in with already established fish/snails, than put fish/snails in after. Then some are still jerks.

We currently have a hmpk that loathes snails. Especially Nerites :( took a really nice one from us before we knew lol. Bugger!

But all good with Endler's...Dwarf Frogs...Rainbow Goby's....yep

Great personalities though!

That is weird that it gets along with other things but not snails!

I think bettas are just funny creatures. Mine will be flaring at things and then as soon as he sees me he forgets everything and wants food as if he was never mad. Maybe I’m reinforcing bad behavior. Lol
