Anyone Have A Fluval Chi?

Just wondering if anyone has a Fluval ChI and how do you like it? The top filter looks interesting (and is there really room in it for some seeded filter media?), and I was thinking about getting one for a betta. I only saw one post that even mentioned it, but I'm hoping someone else has some experience with one.

I used to have one (also for a betta) but found it impossible to keep clean using just their equipment. The light is also pretty useless for growing live plants, if you're thinking about that option. I loved it as a soothing focal point, but found it pretty useless as an aquarium.

Thanks, that's good to know. I do plan on live plants, but I wouldn't necessarily want to be limited to things that don't need much light. So you'd say the whole filter mechanism just isn't the best?

That was my opinion. Very low flow. However, if you really like the setup and were willing to be religious with water changes, it would probably be ok for a betta. The problem is that the light and filtering mechanism are all one piece, so you can't replace one without the other. If you want live plants you'd need to supplement the light source with a clip-on or something similar. I tried that for a while.
