Anyone had luck with pearl gourami and three spot together?

Hi! I have a male pearl gourami and a female three spot (opaline) gourami. They are in two separate tanks right now, but the three spot is not being very nice to her tankmates. I'm probably just going to trade her in to my LFS because I don't have any other tanks big enough that she could go in, besides the one with the pearl gourami. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever had any luck keeping these fish in the same tank? From what I've seen, it looks like it's a pretty big risk and that they three spots usually end up killing the pearls. Would it make a difference that the three spot is a female and currently much smaller than the male pearl? Just trying to weigh my options. Thanks!

I've kept them successfully for months however, this was in a 63 gallon with at least 1 male Pearl and 9 Three Spot Gourami, all the Three Spots attention was on other Three Spots, occasionally he would be chased away, not often at all to be honest.
I Wouldn't keep them one to one, i've tried multiple Pearls with a single Three Spot and he would of killed them if I didn't act (the same fish are in the 63), males and females can be as bad as each other.

Thanks so much! It looks like I will likely trade in the three spot, then. The tank they would both be in is only a 29 gallon and I really love my pearl gourami and don't want anything to happen to him. I've had him for longer and he is very docile.

It's unfortunate but probably the best decision, you could always pick him up a lady friend?

That's true, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for a lady for him. Haha.
