Hello all. I've had my Rio-Negro Pleco for about 7 months now and I don't think I've seen anyone else talk about having them or anything on this forum. I believe they're also known as Candy Stripe Pleco but I could be wrong. This is the most reclusive pleco I've ever owned by far. He never ever ever ever ever ever ever *deep breath, ever ever ever comes out. Catching a glimpse of him is like a unicorn sighting, it's a big deal. Just curious if anyone else out there has a Rio Plec? Not tons of info out there about them either.

Thanks, I tried starting a thread about Rio-Negro Pleco's over a year ago and also received no responses. Apparently no one else in this forum owns a rio-negro/candy stripe pleco. Thanks for the bump though.

Do you have a pic of your pleco? There are a few species of plecos from Rio Negro so it's hard to respond. I have a L387 peckoltia which is close to a L135 (what I think you might have).

I took this the other day when I was moving him out of QT. He's grown a bit in the month he's been in QT.

I have a L 135 rio negro and I also never see him. He never comes out, always hiding. Hopefully he will stop being so shy I also have a albino Pleco and he does not hide always out hunting for algae

I think they're just incredibly shy fish. I've tried to get a picture of him for months. But he always hangs out under driftwood in dense plants. I catch a glimpse of a fin poking out from time to time. Sometimes I forget he's even in there.
