Any tips on keeping baby pieces of vallisneria in sand

I had them planted, then I had to move my tank because of a leak, so I had to take everything out. Now I can't get the stinking things to stay in the sand lol especially the tiny ones. Would it help if I cut them into single ones? There's about 40 of them all connected and its so difficult to keep one planted while the rest want to float off but i was afraid I would hurt them

Yes I would try to cut them single. Then you can put them where you want too. They more than likely will stay better too. Cut the piece in between the plants off.

I guess that would be better in sand. Mine are in gravel and stay put!
