Any suggestions for my fish loving boy for his 3rd birthday?

I have no clue what to get him! This is a child who gets every toy under the sun, literally I get him a toy every time we go to walmart because he is so sweet when I hand him a toy saying "thank you mom!!" (the child appriciates getting toys and will play with them for days on end, we only go to town every two weeks)
He loves fish, but is a big blues clues guy too, and thomas the train, but for thomas the train we have a ton of thomas the train stuff stashed away where we bought it for big bro and he never played w/ it... we have a ton of tracks/trains put up.

I don't want to get him anything too big, and no, not a fish tank... lol after all hes the one who gave us the MTS. I almost wish he was about 2 year older I could buy him a WII game.

He likes remote control cars, and stuff like that... I almost wish I was off work this weekend, a trip to the aquarium in Gatlinburg would be a great birthday gift followed w/ a blue's clue cake at home and some fries (his fav food) would make him happy.

My mom chewed me up and down for not having a big party for him, but I am working 60 hours this week, and 60 next and don't have the time, and the next weekend I have off is my aniversary weekend. She even made the remark that it was his 3rd birthday and "only my 7th" aniversary, she had me so mad! it might be only my 7th aniversary but I do still have plans w/ my husband, and Carson will be happy w/ a cake and some balloons, as long as he is with mom, dad and brother. I just don't see the big fuss in having parties for the kids until they are old enough to have friends in school. I have killed myself year after year, last year I had major surgery a week before I had a party for Carson I wasn't supose to lift anything over 5lbs and I had a catheter in up to 3 days before the party I barely got the house cleaned up and ready for it and almost put myself in the hospital from it and swore off parties because of it. I really do not think my mother realizes how tired I really am, but of coarse she has the same blood issues as me as they are hereditary, and she is lucky enough to have the time to go to a blood speicalist at a cancer center and they are giving her platelets and her insurance is paying for her meds, mine will not cover the meds for me. Go figure, they will not pay for procrit for me, they say that I have to get a letter of medical nessesity??

Sorry, got on a rant... my mother feels like a spring chicken, shes got her blood count back to normal, I on the other hand stand up and I feel like I have been on the merry go round w/ a body builder spinning it for an hour. I thought the mother was supose to feel old, and the daughter was supose to feel like the spring chicken?? Not fair! Maybe she can throw a party lol

Seriously though what is a good toy for a 3 year old? We have already got him his lifetime hunting and fishing license this past week its 200$ in TN which is really cool, it pays for itself really after 1 year, because for a person to get a sportsman licesnse it cost about 150$ a year. So he will never have to get a hunting/fishing license his whole life in TN even if he moves out of the state.

some things my little brother likes are those cool Hot Wheels sets. umm oh something that he would REALLY enjoy, something that I have great memories of are, having picnics on my moms bed and watching tv together. when I was little she would put out a blanket on the bed and pack a basket with food and it was like an actual picnic at home.. doesn't seem too special but it was awesome!

Thanks, I am hoping my husband gets to finish the deck before his birthday then we can have an awesome cookout with him, his brother and my husband... I think he would enjoy that, some balloons, his gifts, and a cake on our new deck. My husband is almost done, he has half of the floorboards on now and just lacks that and the railings. W/ 2 days off this weekend, and hopefully some help from his dad and when I am off work I can help we can get it done. Of coarse, Carson does love to help daddy too, he set outside all day the last day he worked and I was out there helping hold boards up, he was stacking the blocks of wood that were cut off, having a blast, then he would walk over offering to help. When we are inside hes my boy, but when dads home and working outside or in the garage hes all dads. Our other son is all mine, I don't think he hardly says a word to my husband (honestly might have said a total of 30 words this year to him, and they were while playing wii)

How about a sand box(covered naughty cats :nono? My kids loved them.
They would take their hot wheels, lol, yes, they're girls or plastic dump trucks and play for hours.
Nothing like encouraging the imagination in a kid.

LOL, we have a sandbox/water thingy combo for the kids already I had bought it for my older son when he was carsons age. That's what bites, I had bought the older son all the good stuff, and so carson has a lot of the bigger stuff handed down. Even dump trucks, etc. I even have plans of getting my old tonka truck yes, my lol tonka truck from the late 70's early 80's, its metal which I think is so cool, I am going to give it to the boys to play w/ that thing is still almost brand new. Between my tonka trucks, hotwheels, and pet bluegills, salamanders I had no time for barbie growing up. I guess its a good thing I had boys, they are easy for me to relate too, nothing like a mom that will catch frogs, bugs, go fishing, and not get grossed out.

My plans for Carson are:

Since he can't make up his mind Blue or Nemo I am going to ask Dairy Queen to do a Half Nemo Half Blue Cake if they can. If not it will be all Blue since last year was Nemo, and the year before was Nemo. Then, he is a big potato fan, so I am going to make him some home frys and chicken nuggets (his fav meal) and cook out for the rest of us, and he likes remote control cars so I will find him a remote control something, and a nemo outfit and a blue outfit? The blues clues dvd was a great idea, I keep a library of blues clues on the dvr to play for him so we need some new episodes! Oh yea, of coarse a ton of balloons, he loves balloons.

That's the way it was for my youngest, we had most of the bigger things handed down from her older sister.

It sounds like you have things well planned, he'll have so much fun.

I hope so, I am feeling so guilty for having so many sced work days this week and this next whole month, I am working on his birthday, but we need the money so we can pay off our jeep and have a down payment for my husband a truck his car is literally about to fall apart and we have agreed to only be in debt for one vehicle.

A cute inexpensive gift that all kids love is that Nemo fish blowing bubbles for the bathtub! I posted a picture a while back....It's really cute in person and the kids dig it! Of course you have to buy a 12 pack of bubbles for the kid to blow back at Nemo while in the tub lol

He would love that! Where can I get one? Does walmart have them? I saw a nemo fish tank, but its only like a 1.5 or 2 gallon tank, and I can't think of any fish to put in a tank that small I would rather wait until I got him out of my room (yes I said it he is still sleeping in his toddler bed in my room, my husband works a lot of 24 hour shifts and I feel more at ease w/ him in my room) but anyways, when he was in his own room I would like to put a big tank in the boys room instead of a little tank w/ shrimp or something like that in it... I would like a community tank for them.

But I love the nemo bubble thing! Let me know where to find it! Thanks!
