Any Information About Flowerhorn

A friend of mine gave me this Flowerhorn Cichlid about 9 months ago. I think it is just over 1 year old now. From what information I have gathered on Flowerhorns, I am currently feeding it Shrimp, ocassionaly worms, and organic fiber food. It is 8+ inches long. I think this is a male. I'm currently setting up a 150 gallon tank for it. Does anyone have any additional information for taking care of this Flowerhorn? Anyone know why it is lacking so much color? I really appreciate any information you can share.

 

Add a good staple diet pellet for better color and vitality. I like new life spectrum. Usually flowerhorn are fed a very high protein diet made for them to maximize growth, but I hesitate to "powerfeed" bc of the risk of digestive trouble. The color will be best when the fish is in charge of an unthreatened territory. Tank mates, stress, and water quality problems can all reduce color. Breeding too. Some fish just won't get the best color. Any pictures?

Very nice. Is the color still peeling or are those stress blotches. I've heard wandering dark patches can show up. Any tankmates? Is it a hexagon tank? I bet your tank upgrade will really bring out the best. Frozen krill could help too. Meaty and boosts color.

 

Good eye. I had to move him in there yesterday. Tomorrow I plan to put him in the new tank.
