Any Ideas For Outdoor Bird Feeders Where There Are Bears?

My mom is an avid bird watcher and used to spend hours just watching them eat from her outdoor feeders. Unfortunately, she lives in a wooded area and a couple years ago a bear came within 10 feet of the house and ripped one down. She was inside with only a screen door between them when it happened so it really scared her. She hasn't put out food since.

She misses her birds. I'm wondering if there are any bear-safe options for feeders when the bears aren't hibernating? We gave her a hummingbird feeder and some bird houses but it's not the same.

Hi, do you have anywhere a bit higher up you could hang them like in a tree? You might need a ladder to get them up & down but just a thought. You could also try putting ground cayenne pepper or red chillI pepper flakes in the food, the birds won't know it's there & will continue to feed but it puts animals off, well squirrels & rats anyway, not sure about bears we don't have any of them around here.
