Any Idea On Type Of Wood?

Found this beauty today what you guys think it is? And is it safe?

Looks awesome! I’m assuming you collected it outside. Was it found already sunken? If so, I’d use it. I’ve actually done it before. The most I did was let the piece dry out in the sun before putting it into the aquarium. It happens to be my pleco’s favorite wood with all the biofilm.

I’m not one to be too concerned about germs and contamination, but you will probably find some pest snail sooner or later.

Yea got it from an older couple that pulled it out a lake years ago I guess been sitting as a decoration on their porch ever since. They have it to me for 10$ figured I'd give it a try for my 250 gallon.

It is a beautiful piece of wood. Is it wet in the photos? It appears to have a sheen to it. Do you know if it has been varnished?

It is wet. I just sprayed it off with power washer to remove crud
