Hi! I do acrylics, oils, pencil, colored pencil, sculpture, and occasionally stained glass. I’m currently working on a biology major (ecology concentration), but minoring in studio art.

I love sketching and drawing, but I took a very long break from it because I became very depressed. I’ve started getting back into it, though. I’ll get some pics when I get home

Beautiful! All of those are beautiful! That sculpture of the dragon is amazing! I too went through a dragon drawing phase but that was back in middle school so they're not nearly as good as yours lol

Your ability to draw fish is incredible! I can't draw fish to save my life lol

I suffer from anxiety and depression also. Getting back into drawing and painting has actually helped me fight the anxiety attacks from being so bad, it gives me something to focus on beside whatever is causing the anxiety attack

Yeah, it’s been keeping me distracted so far. I’ve been getting awful headaches every day, so it’s been really hard finding the motivation. I manage.
The Mona Lisa is over a year old. I stopped working on it because I just didn’t feel like it.
I have a lot more lying around somewhere.

My drawings seem to be all over the place, seems I need to get a pic of my current one to post. S.O. wanted a warhammer piece and I had to oblige. Seeing all this good art is inspiring me to get back into it

I would say I am somewhat of a artist, when people ask what I am into I saw fish and art. I only do pencil Drawing because I feel I can get much more detail. I mainly draw dragons from how to train your dragon, dinosaurs, and fish. I have a really good drawing of a blood parrot. I will post photos in a little bit.

I don't do color BTW.

My grandma was an art teacher, so I've been drawing/painting since I could hold a pencil. But I haven't done anything since my senior year, so it's been about 3 years. I know I have pictures on another thread similar to this, I'll have to find some and post them. I have lost a lot of my stuff though

Most of my art I rush, I typically do it with free time so often I could do better but I just don't have the time. I am not nearly as good as some of these people but I think I'm good right now. I am still working on improving. I only like to do complicated things though, I don't like to do simple things.

Hahaha no don't quit! Thank you though. I wish I would get back into it, maybe this thread will inspire me. I have art supplies sitting all around my house. I personally don't even like most of my stuff. I contemplated posting it, I absolutely hated a lot of the stuff I did (that jolly rancher one being one of them). It doesn't look so bad now that I haven't looked at it in 3 years, but I did hate it then. And that was actually the purpose of that drawing! We had to take a picture of something and then draw it, so I'm glad you said that, it makes me feel a bit better about it.

I just took the time to actually read through the thread lol
We’re all so critical all our own work

Maybe we just stare it at it too much, looking for all the flaws we can find lol.

I’m definitely very critical of my own work. I actually learn that way so I take criticism of my work the positive way. Like you said, I stare at it too much and things start looking “flawed”.
Umm I totally agree here, I used to get in trouble by my art teacher for being too critical of my own stuff. Haha, I still find that funny to me but I never stopped being over-critical. I did have to take breaks from things though because I would get so frustrated with something not looking right.

I suffer from anxiety and depression also. Getting back into drawing and painting has actually helped me fight the anxiety attacks from being so bad, it gives me something to focus on beside whatever is causing the anxiety attack
I haven't got back into drawing necessarily but I did pick up one of those adult coloring books and it definitely is a way to keep my mind off of other stuff. I meant to quote the other person who mentioned this but I somehow didn't

Lol I won’t be quitting but you are very talented. I got back into art because my sister and I wanted to spend less time on our phones and more time just creating things. It was her idea to paint and I’m glad I got back into it.
I wish I could make something look so realistic!

Ive always been critical of my work. That’s the perfectionist in me wanted everything to be perfect lol I get it from my momma lol! Whenever I get frustrated, I have to walk away and take a break. I’ve learned the hard way what happens if I don’t

I had one of those adult coloring books too but I gave up on it. I like creating my own art better than coloring in someone else’s

Well thank you, it means a lot to hear that! That's awesome that you guys want to spend less time on your phones, I've been that way recently too. But I've been deciding to set up to get a gecko haha. Art would definitely be less expensive. You can create something realistic with time, practice, the right material and the right teacher (even if it's yourself). You just have to look at things a bit differently than people typically do.

I agree, creating is much much better but to have something that I can take with me or just grab in a few seconds is nice to have handy.

I’d like to be less dependent on my phone honestly. Whenever I get bored, I pick up my phone and scroll through social media which is bad. I want to get back in touch with my artistic roots so I’m all for more painting and less phones. I would be setting up more tanks and buying more fish but that’s pricey and I’m on a budget right now so painting will do for now lol. I’d like to continue drawing and painting so I can improve my skills. I’m a self taught type of learner so I’ll keep working on it

That’s what I thought I’d use it for, just grab and go type of art but I never really used it much. I think it’s still sitting somewhere in my house lol
