Anubias blues

Wicked bummed. Just had to chop up an anubias I've been growing forever. I think today was the 2nd time I've moved it in 3-4 years. It grew nicely until the rhizome was branching all over the place. Today I accidentally bumped it lightly, and one of the rhizome branches dropped right off. On closer inspection the central rhizome connecting all the branches had gone brown and mushy. I don't know if I got hit with a random case of anubias rot, or if this is how the plant naturally divides eventually when it gets too big and shades itself out? No idea. ( Vishaquatics curious if you have any input there)

So I ended up trimming away all the brown and dividing the plant up. Ended up with 6 decent size plants and some small ones im gonna give a chance to. They had some algae on the leaves, so I figured why the heck not and dipped them in hydrogen peroxide too. We'll see what happens with them. I was so bummed I didn't think to take pictures until I was done, so here's the end product.

Annubias is indestructible. Each piece you have cutoff will grow back and eventually take over the known universe.

I'm just hoping that whatever it was doesn't cause all the cuttings to turn to mush as well.

how did they fair? My Anubis is getting so big I am thinking of splitting it into 2. And I use hydrogen peroxide on algae as well. Seems to work flawlessly and the endlers and amano shrimp devoured it.

Burned a couple of leaves a little bit with the peroxide. But overall this worked out well.
