Anubias Barteri lost leaves - will they regrow?

Hi,

I recently got an anubias barteri. It arrived healthy but has lost all of its leaves in about a week.
My big question is, will the rhizome grow new leaves if all it has is roots and rhizome? Or should I just consider the plant dead and remove it?

Give it time, it should start regrowing leaves.

If the rhizome is still hard and not mushy I would let it be... likely it was grown emersed and the plant is adjusting (though unusual to lose all the leaves in a week). How did the leaves look as they were dying? Any chance you have pictures?

The leaves looked normal. They actually rotted off at the rhizome. Some of the rhizome was blackening so I snipped it off after I lost all of the leaves. Unfortunatly no pictures. I can get one tomorrow morning of the rhizome if I remember to

Should I stick a root tab underneath it? Or would just the liquid ferts be a better choice?

No root tabs... it shouldn't be planted, the rhizome needs to be exposed...

Where I cut off the rotting part it looks to be fraying like old rope

Its growing roots. Personally, I wouldn't stick the roots in the gravel. I prefer them tied or glued to driftwood, my filter tubes or jammed between rocks. If it had never been stuck in gravel before (which it probably wasn't) that could be what made it die back so fast.

Yeah, I just zip tie mine with either green or black zip ties, easier and after the leaves start growing you can't see it at all

I think my goldies have been eating away at the rhizome. Didnt rhink they would eat anubias due its big leaves, never thought about the rhizome though

It would be unusual for Goldie's to snack on a rhizome...

Perhaps my rosy red minnows? Channel catfish? Trapdoor snails?
I got another anubias just to see and the same thing is happening.
First it loses all leaves within 3-7 days. Then the rhizome starts slowly dissapearing. Haven't witnessed anyone eating at it but maybe it happens at night?

will the roots from an anubias ties with thread to a piece of driftwood eventually grow leaves ( sorry didn't mean to try to hijack your thread) does your other anubias that is doing well have new leaf growth?
