Ant Nest?!

Hey all.

The weirdest things has happened...

So it is spring here and we have had a lot of rain lately. So we have been having ants come into our house. No big deal right just buy some traps and there gone... Guess what they ignore traps and proceeded to travel to various places around our upstairs and eat things..

Well yesterday I was admiring my betta and I noticed a couple ants on the table where the tank is. So I decided to follow the trail to see where they were going as I was worried they had found my fish food. The trail led behind the tank to where the filter is.. I have a HOB and there is a small space between the tank and the filter. I thought maybe they are drinking the water and it condensates there. So I lifted the filter and discoverd an entire nest being built under!!!! Eggs and all!!!

So naturally I began to panic so everyone in my house came and we got out the vacuum and sucked them all up. And I rinsed out my entire filter and didn't put it back for a bit.

I swear that was the weirdest thing I have ever seen.

The only good thing is that some ants fell in the tank and the betta had a nice snack!

Does anyone else have any weird bug and tank stories to share? I would love to hear them.

That's crazy!!!!!!! Maybe the tanks smell good to the ants or something weird like that.

It was most likely the lighting that attracted the ants into the tanks.

Also if you need help with ant control, make a mixture of baking soda and sugar. The ants will eat this because of the sugar Andy they will die because they will basically choke on the baking soda.
