I know this has to be one of the most popular questions and I probably know the possible causes but I just want to know your opinion.

I finished my fishless cycle and added 24 mbuna 4 days ago

On Sunday water was a little cloudy tested and 0 amm 0 ites 10rates.

Did a 50 percent water change on Sunday.

Today still is slightly cloudy.

Been feeding spiralina flake by zoo med and omega one super color small pellets.
Thursday no food
Friday once morning once night
Sat once morning once night
Today once morning

Of course not more then they can eat in 2min

I have one hob that came with the tank and 2 sponge filters.

I added aragonite sand a week before fish and one more bag 2 days before adding fish. I did rinse, not excessively but I thought good enough. tank was very clear before fish.

So why do u think my tank is cloudy I added my test kit results for today and some pics of my tank and very curious fish lol. Btw even though the tank looks empty the fish are in there, they are just swarming around me wile I take the picture lol

My guess is a bacteria bloom seeing you added 24 fish 4 days ago...it needs time to catch up. I'de still keep a close eye on it. Great looking fish and setup from what I can see btw!! what size tank is it? I'm sure others will chime in and I think they will say you need much more filtration to hold all the cichlids. maybe a big canister is in order

Thank you. It's a 55 gallon I went with 6 diffrent type of juvI mbuna and it's great to see that even after 4 days I can see some of the colors getting a little more pronounced. I'm definitely keeping a close eye on it but I have cut my water tests down to every other day until things get settled then I will test once a week before water changes. And as soon as I get a chance to hit the local landscaper I'm going to take the stuff in there out and put a row of rock down the middle. Mabe granite. Thank u for the complement

I think you are experiencing a harmless bacterial bloom. Its very common in newly cycled established tanks. It might take several weeks for things to balance out. Just continue your weekly tank maintenence.
Adding 24 fish at once probably had something to do with the situation. Good luck, things will get better.

yup, white cloudiness is beneficial bacterial bloom, as they explode eating up all the ammonia. It will settle down as they get established in the filter.

Lol yup some advised against it but I knew I had a strong start with a good fishless cycle and with close attention they will do fine. But I'm glad to see everyone is thinking the same as me.
