So I went into my local pet store today, all I needed was some cuttlebone but you know, had to go look at the fish.
I’m walking around and notice they have several bettas in different community tanks, cool. One catches my eye, it was a male koi but it wasn’t a plakat, and I’ve never seen koi in any other types. So I thought that was pretty cool. That one was $35, probably not over priced for a koi but I absolutely will not spend $35 on a betta.
I do some more walking around, and every single male betta they had was $35! Okay, what?! This store literally a week or two ago had their normal $5-$10 bettas in the “death cups” (not sure who on here calls them that but thanks for your term) and now they want $35 for a normal plain jane betta?!
I’m astonished. Literally all they did was create a new display for the bettas and put airstones in the tiny tanks and moved some to community tanks. Why does that mean they need to charge $35 for a betta?
p.s. they also wanted $12.99 for a bn pleco
