Angels and Danios?

Are the danios too small? Will the Angels eat them?

What type of danios are you interested in? How many angels do you have and what size thank will they share?
But, in answer to your question.... In most cases, yes, danios and angelfish should be compatible.

Hi. I have a 55 gallon tank which I'm in the process of stocking. I currently have some zebra danios (5) and platies (5). I was thinking of adding some swordtails, corys, and perhaps some angels (I've read that 6 is a good number to have)...I know the Angels will eat neons (so I'm staying away from them) but the danios aren't much bigger so I don't know if they would end up being snacks.

Do not add more than 2 Angelfish to your 55 gallon tank. Six Angelfish would be OK for a tank at least 75 gallons in size. These fish need a lot of space.
Zebra Danios are OK with Angelfish. I have 2 Zebra Danios (so far) with my 2 Angelfish, and they're all doing OK together in a 75 gallon tank. Remember, Zebra Danios need to be kept in groups. I'd recommend at least 6 per group. I'll have a total of 8 Zebra Danios (will add 6 more to my current 2 Zebra Danios).
Angelfish may eat ANY small fish that will fit inside their mouths, not just Neon Tetras. They may not fit ADULT Neon Tetras or ADULT Zebra Danios inside their mouths, but they may easily fit small/baby/juvenile Neon Tetras and Zebra Danios inside their mouths.
Now, Angelfish raised together with other fish like Neon Tetras or Zebra Danios, may just ignore them, even if they're still small/babies. But Angels raised with other Angels only, may certainly try to eat other smaller fish right away. They'll think the smaller fish are food.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm interested in keeping a school of zebra danios (or a school of tetras) in my newest tank which will keep angels as its showfish.

Thanks! If six is too many, I may do just one, have a single showcase angelfish among my other schools.

Rmanno, you can easily have 2 One may get too lonely We all need friends, right?
Gamer, read this again:

To give you an example: I bought my 2 Angelfish when they were still small, and I raised them with 12 Neon Tetras. When my Angels grew up, they didn't bother my Neon Tetras because they were raised together with them.
