21534705_10209759105123979_1719229383_o.jpg So I have 2 angelfishes. One is marble and the other is platinum.
The marbled one keeps following the platinum one so is it possible that they're trying to breed or something? Is that possible for 2 different types of angelfishes? If so, what are the signs that they're trying to mate?
Sorry I can't tell if they're both different genders

I'm not an angelfish expert, but my two did that before they bred and laid eggs. But mine were the same kind of angelfish.
I've seen other types breed with each other, however, there are others who are more experienced than I who I am sure will answer

When I here the words angelfish the first name that pops into my mind is bizaliz3 (or maybe it's just the word angel that makes me think of her). Maybe she'll see this and drop in with some answers.

Aww thanks jdhef You put a smile on my face!

HI Eloisa
Both of your angels are the same type, Pterophyllum scalare. They are just different color morphs of the same species. So yes they can breed.

Following each other around isn't necessarily a sign that they plan to mate up. Angelfish are schooling fish in the wild...But because of their adult size and aggressive behavior we can't house schools of them in the average sized aquarium. Basically they do like company.

They could be pairing up too. You'll just have to wait and see. Can you share some photos?

just posted pics.
lol I was planning on naming them after me and my boyfriend since they were always together but that still depends on their gender( which I am still unsure of).

Your marble is pearlscale!! That's my absolute favorite feature on angels! Beautiful!

Determining gender is never 100% accurate until you actually WITNESS them spawning. If you don't catch it until after the fact you won't know for sure who laid the eggs and who fertilized them.

If I had to guess based on the photos...my GUESS would be that the gold is a male. That one has a bit of a masculine hump on it. But that doesn't always mean male! I have a couple ladies with a little hump just like that.

Can you see a breeding tube sticking out on either of them?

I don't know how long I've been staring at the aquarium but I finally got some pics that hopefully will help because I don't know where the breeding tube is and searching online, what they look like is just confusing.

Take a look at this thread I made. It's gives you an idea of how inconsistent it is. And I included some great breeding tube photos too.

My goal when making that thread wasn't necessarily to confuse people. It was more meant to discourage people from claiming to be able to ID their gender off a photo. I see too much of that! Lol

My answer is always that you just have to wait and see.
