Hi,
I was wondering what is the minimum number of angelfish I can keep?
I was hoping just two, but I heard that one will be over dominant to the other

Hello.

It all depends what size tank you're planning to keep an Angelfish in. If you keep two, there'll be a chance that they will pair up.

You can keep two if you want but as mentioned above they may pair up. You can also keep one if you don't want a pair. I have kept them singly and in groups and they do as well either way.
I would recommend at least a 20g tall for one and a larger tank for more.

I have a 55 gallon tank
So would a single angelfish do ok alone? I heard that they get lonely and miserable :O
And if I get two, I heard that one will be over dominant to the other
Hard decisions...

If you have a 55 gallon you can get about 6 small baby angels in with tetras, and live plants. if you want to get large fully grown angels, then people recommend 3-6 angels for your tank. Angels like to swim together sometimes, and if you have more angels then the chance is they wont bother other fishes that are in your tank. but BE CAREFUL! Once the angels you have introduced into your tank have been in your tank for a while, DON'T ADD ANYMORE FISHES THAT ARE FROM THE CICHLID FAMILY! Angels are cichlids and they are very territorial after a few days they will have their own territory in the tank.

One should be fine. I think sometimes we put our feelings on our fish. such as being lonely. They are neither schooling, shoaling or social fish to need others of their own kind.
As for adding other cichlids to the tank I have added rainbow cichlids to my 55g that has 5 angels in it with out a problem and have added Rams to the other 55g when it had angels without a problem so it just depends on the individual fish.
What else are you going to put in the tank?

I also have angels with many different types of cichlids....in a 55g, you could have just the one with other types of cichlids as others have suggested

Hi!
I have a 55 gallon tank, with two filters, in total, 450 gph.
I also have a medium amount of live plants.
About 75 degrees.
I was wondering if these list of fish could work out
2-3 White Cloud Mountain Minnows
4 neon tetras
3 Corydoras
3 Mollies (1 male, 2 females)
4 Guppies (2 male, 2 female)
2 Endler Livebearers (1 male, 1 female)
3 Platies (1 male, 2 female)
1 Blue Ram
1 Red Tail Shark
And maybe 2 angelfish
Could it work?
Thanks in advance!
ive merged the posts so you dont get members confused with different ones , on the same thing, going.....
I think the minnows need cold water so they might not be happy the neons you take a chance of being a meal if the angels havent grown up with them...and id go with 1 angel as if they pair, they will make the rest of the fish miserable but the rest sound like a fun tank ....im sure other members will have more advice
