Angelfish Water Flow

A couple months back I got a new juvenile veiltail angelfish and I have since then maintained a proper water flow but recently a friend of mine who has seen my setup got me a whisper 60 with an air stone and a volcano decor as a birthday gift. I set it up but I realized the bubbles when coming from the air stone were too strong and created a strong current, but when I took the air stone off the water flow was fine so I was wondering if I should use this whisper for one of my other tanks and buy a whisper 40 for this one. (Keep in mind this tank is a 35 g bow front.)

Since you already have a filter - that does most of the circulation - a smaller sized airpump does sound like a good idea, or using valves on the current airpump to restrict flow.

Thanks for the suggestion I remember reading about check valves when I got my first airpump but I've never used one before so I completely forgot about them. I'll get one and see if it works.

Check valves are to stop the pump from siphoning water when turned off. But you want a valve which controls the amount of air going through the tube, like a needle valve.

Okay thanks for the clarification.
