Our angelfish have recently started chasing our mollies and I feel like our mollies are scared. The mollies are usually on one side of the tank instead of swimming around. They weren’t like this before so I don’t understand what is going on. I really don’t want to have to separate them but I may have to. Luckily there is no fin nipping going on so that’s good. Any advice?

If you have more than a single Angel they may be pairing up to breed.

When this happens they require the entire tank for their breeding territory (unless it is a very large tank).

It's part of the pair bond to defend the territory, the pair relationship is strengthened by demonstrations of strength.

The pair may test each other's strength by lip locking.

Depends mainly on the size of the tank. When they got room they keep aggression among themselves. Not enough room they can go after other fish. Especially if you have more than one angelfish.

It’s usually an age thing.

When the angel is young, they are pretty docile. As they grow and age, they can become more aggressive.

How big is the tank??

And what’s the stocking?

An aggressive angel in a large enough tank shouldn’t be a problem depending what other fish you have.

But if the tank is too small, the other fish don’t have room to escape.
