Came home from a longish day at work and was greeted by a couple of hungry angels! When they're desperate to get my attention they fan all of their fins out to maximum spread and the way they "billow" in the current is really something to see. Hard to capture in a photograph but I did the best I could

I have 5 angels but I only have a picture of one of them on my phone lol. I have a breeding pair, Juliette and Lazuli. Then I have two more named Romeo and Kylo. And then yesterday I bought an albino pearlscale named Salem. I only have a picture of Salem at the moment.

Here’s some pictures of my new angels. The two little tiny ones are my blue marbles I got about 2 weeks ago. They’re starting to show their blue a little!

Black lace ghost on left, pinoy smokey ghost on the right (you can see the faintly darker smokey markings on the right one).

Blue Smokey pair (with a massive mess of genetics going on, cause they produced paraiba babies).

Omg I have so many angel pics!

My first angel ever! Saying hello literally

20190710_153837.jpg

She was a gold marble pearlscale and the original mama

One of her offspring with her own babies. This angel I still have and she is my best mama angel. She's at least 8 years old now and still spawning!

I added one to my tank on Friday. Just a run of the mill mutt from petsmart but I love his lonnnnng fins. He reminds me of a Siamese cat. He has a wild color head, smokey unpaired fins, and a white-ish body and pelvic fins. Is there a name for this color?

Blushers lose their pink cheeks as adults. Their gill plates are see-through as juvies...which is why the gills look pink. As adults the gill plate fills in. Here is one of my adult blushers.
20190712_124246.jpg

Heres one of his kids...cheeks are still a little pink.

20190606_192343.jpg

The other thing blushers have are the iridescent patches.

Blushers come in other great combos too. KoI are blushers!!! My favorite angelfish type are paraibas. Which are blue blushers. Here are a couple of those.

Blue leopard, with a single blushing gene. May be a chocolate with two smokey genes, wouldn't know until she decides to breed. She is 1.5" and refuses to grow bigger no matter what I do. The picture is taken right below the filter output so the particles are bubbles. She was scooting around so her fins aren't fully extended (as well as she kept trying to look at me straight on like the gold marble on the left)

Nice looking angel! Weird she refuses to grow. If course, I forget what a leopard is. .I have a platinum like that too, she's 4 years old and looks 8 months. She laid eggs really early, I wondered if that had anything to do with it? I call her 'petite'.

Leopard is zebra smokey, if she is a chocolate it would be considered a zebra chocolate rather than leopard. She hasn't spawned or anything but I also have no clue if I have a mature male to entice her.

Progressive shots are some of my favorites! Here is the growth process of this superveil comb tail pearlscale pinoy paraiba. (That is a mouthfull!!!! Haha)

She was kind of an ugly duckling at first. And blossomed into an incredible swan!!

What makes it a pearscale? I thought that I knew what a pearlscale was.

What makes her a pinoy?

Is that just the strain?
Pearlscales have bumpy scales. Hers are hard to see in those photos. Heres a better shot. It's hard to see them on paraibas because you can only see them on the blue patches.

20200123_161626.jpg

A pinoy is an angel that has 2 blue genes and 1 or 2 dark genes.

Paraibas are blue blushers. 2 blue genes and 2 stripeless genes.

This one has 2 blue genes 2 stripeless genes and a dark gene. So she is pinoy paraiba. Technically she has a smokey gene too. You can kind of see that in the youngest pic of her. So she is a "pearlscale smokey pinoy paraiba comb-tail super veil".

Cool! That's a mouthful! What is a stripeless gene? Like a a gene that doesn't come from a silver or zebra? Sorry for so many questions.
