Hi! So I recently got a 29 gallon high, and it is cycling. I am thinking about my stocking, and so far I know that I really want either guppies or am angelfish. Can I keep ONLY a proven pair of angels in the 29 gallon? Or just one? If I only had angels I would keep the guppies in another 10G

Would you be breeding the pair of angels? If so you will need grow out tanks for fry.

Or have some fish that enjoy the feeders... I know my rummies did.

So do you think like 6 rummies and 2 angels?

In two seperate tanks, otherwise no... not all in the same tank.

Your stocking options:
- ONE proven PAIR of angels
- maybe a nerite or two
- plants

Thats pretty much at max bioload.

I've wanted to do this same thing in the past before (keep a pair in a 29). Then I started reading more about breeding from our experienced angel keepers. They breed like every two weeks or some such craziness. So, if you have a way to use or re-home all those hundreds of babies, I'd say go for it. If not, I'd do one angel and a few tank mates.

PS- Keep in mind, people say the easiest way to get a pair is to buy like 6 angels, and wait for them to pick each other. Then you have to figure out what to do with the extras.

Well can I have 1 angel and 5 guppies? What about 6 rummies and 1 angel? The angel would be a baby because my LFS only sells babies

A breeding pair Would not be smart for somebody who is new to angelfish in my opinion. Not only that but as stated they would need the tank to themselves.

I think one angel with a small group of rummy noses would work. Especially since you're getting the angel when it's very small.
