Angelfish colors fade when they are stressed. Probably a challenge for three angelfish to live in a 29g, no matter what you do. There is limited space for tall plants to break sightlines or offer adequate hiding spaces, but you can try. If two pair up the third will not last long. And if only one becomes dominant the other two will be outcompeted for food. Wish I had better advice. Angelfish are usually better with one or six or so. Beautiful but unpredictable.

Stress probably. What are your water parameters? Did you quarantine him before adding him? Are the other 2 bullying him?
They all lived together when I got them. they all have developed their own terrotory he is the largest and so the other angelfish never mess with him. ph: 7.6.

Ok he is bigger then the rest and they do not fight. I bought them together. Do you think he is less stressed now that his colors are back? I can put this one in a seprate 20 gallon with mollies, if that will help him.

Yes but what are your other water parameters? Ammonia? Nitrites? Nitrates?
Ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 25

As has been pointed out it may be difficult in the long term to keep those three together in that tank. however, for the moment unless the behavior has changed, its not eating, or its becoming aggressive or anything like that, I would not worry too much. I have 6 angelfish, 2 are striped ones and they quite regularly change from being plain, slightly striped or very dark stripes, I guess according to their mood although I haven't worked out which color goes with any particular situation. .

Ok good, I just wanted ammonia or nitrite poisoning ruled out.
20g is going to be too small in the long run, are you planning on upgrading eventually?
