Angelfish Becoming Aggressive

I have a 30 gallon bowfront tank with
1x Angelfish
6x Harlequin Rasboras
6x Cory Cats
2x Platys
Filters: Sunsun 302 and a tall sponge filter(forgot which one)
My Angelfish has been in this tank since he was the size of a silver dollar he is now almost 5 inches and the older he gets the more aggressive he's becoming towards my other fish. I believe he chased one of my full grown rasboras enough to make him jump out of my tank. My question is would he be happier or at least less stressful if he was in his own 23 gallon tall hex flat back tank with a lot of plants? He will be in the kitchen/living room so he'd still have movement around his tank. I feel like he likes us humans more then the other fish.

A 23 gallon is too small for an angelfish. However, I believe that this should be a good temporary tank for him.

It's definitely common for them to become more aggressive as they age.
I believe both a 30 gallon and a 23 gallon is too small - if you can get him something larger than a 30 gallon and preferably a tall tank rather than a long.

Can you share a picture of the tank?

If you add lots of tall plants (fake or real) to break up sightlines, that could help.

If the angel can ALWAYS see the little fish, it can get annoyed/aggravated by them. Adding things to break up sightlines gives the angel a chance to "shut the door" for some privacy/peace and quiet. If that makes sense.

Probably should of put the measurements of the 23 gallon hex flat back tank it's 24"L x 13"W x 21"H. The tallest tank I have is 24"H 40 gallon corner hex but I can't set that up at the moment.

He's all about begging for food even though he gets fed twice a day.

That's a very nice simplistic tank. But it doesn't give the angel any break from a chaos of the little fish. He needs a territory to call his own or else he will try and claim the whole tank. It's also a relatively small tank for an adult angel. Which can be contributing to its aggressive behavior.

It's def not my ideal setup I wanted live plants I had planted the whole tank had used root tabs liquid fertz and everything and none of it would grow to save my life. I can't afford to redo it again just yet so fake plants it was for now.

So the rasboras are the annoying ones to him since they can move fast? If I switch them to a new tank and moved my plants around so he'd have a place to chill would he be fine in there? Though I still am curious do angelfish like to be in a tank alone or in a community tank?

I think it is very pretty actually! I like the simplicity of it! Its looks nice and clean and pleasing to the eye.

As for angels liking to be alone or in a community....Angelfish are schooling fish. So they do appreciate the company of other angels. But due to their large size, it is difficult to keep a school of them in an average aquarium. And if the "school" of angels is kept too small (like 4-5 or less) the aggression will not be spread out enough and things rarely go well

For aggression issues, angels are best kept as a solo fish, or in a pair (which is a crapshoot), or in a larger group of 6-8 or more (but a group that large requires a very large tank). For example, when I had 4 angels in my 75 I ended up having to divide it the aggression was so bad. But when I had 8 in my 75 (which I don't necessarily recommend due to tank size) there was much much less aggression.

As for "alone vs community tank"..... honestly, I bet they would choose having the tank to themselves, rather than sharing it with a community of fish. As your angel has proven. haha

Well thank you.
Sorry I went MIA haven't been feeling well. My Angel got his wish and is currently in his own tank with one of my evil female swordtails (she won't get along with my other swordtails). Found out the tank I thought was a 23 gallon turned out to be a 28 gallon but today I'm upgrading it to a 44 gallon corner tank I had in my garage. Found a stand for it this weekend at a yard sale. Woot. I have one more question and it's about stocking for the 44 gallon. Do Angels get along or at least not bother KuhlI Loaches? I would like to get 6 or more but if you think he'd bother them or they'd bother him I'd be ok with him having the 44 gallon to himself with the female swordtail.

You can keep kuhlI loaches with an angelfish. Just make sure they have lots of hiding spots for them. And sand substrate
