I was wondering if red eye tetras (or lamp eye tetras), if kept in a school of 10+, would nip angelfish fins? Aqadvisor says they are likely to, but this goes against what I thought tetras were meant to be - peaceful schooling fish...

Has anybody had success with this? I have 2 juvenile angels in a 55 gallon tank, if that helps any.

    Welcome to FishLore! :;toast

From my experience either can easily happen. I find that usually angelfish that have long fins, like veiltails or lacefins, are more likely to be nipped than normal fin angels. I would suggest you have an easy out option if it doesn't work out.

I think it'd work in a 55 with no issues. I'd get around 12 red eyes.

aqadvisor tends to go a little overboard, making every fish out to be a great white shark in terms of aggression. JMO.
