Is that an elephant ear? Seems like betta fever has set in. This is the 4th new betta on fish lore within a day.

    Please be patient.
Is there an emergency that could not wait at least 24 hours?

The title doesn't really reflect your new question.

I'm not familiar with elephant ear bettas but I think he might be a male. Does (s)he have long fins? I'm sure a more knowledgeable member will be able to give you a definite answer. :)

I'm not to knowledgeable about bettas, I kept one 5 years ago. I'm pretty sure that mature females often have a white dot protruding from their belly called the ovipositor.

Male. Females will have short fins.
Here is a photo of my female elephant ear for comparison.
