They seem to get along ok until I am in the room , when I come in the room which is my office the yellow koi Angel want let any others at front of tank ,
He keeps them run behind bushes and corners ...I just recently added some new decor and added new plants to try and throw him off ...well ..it didn't work .Is he just chasing them off or can he cause real harm from what you see ?
The yellow and the marble and Rams are 5 months old and the other two blush panda kois are 3 months old .

What a lovely tank. I would say at the moment he is the boss but watch for bullying the others causing damage. If none than I wouldn't worry about it. Alison

Thank you ,, it seems like he just chasing them , I don't see him pluck at them or see any damage as of yet but I feel bad for them that he keeps them running and in the corners a lot of the time .

38g tall , 4 Angels and 2 Rams , all the fish are small juvies at the moment .

You'll need to rehome two of the angels if/when a pair forms, but for now, I'd only remove the bully if he starts hurting them.

I now keep my angels singly as I find it more calming.

They always want to be the boss of the tank so I choose other fish appropriately i.e. ones that can get out of the way and do not nip fins.

Even my mated pairs have had serious punch-ups.

I understand that in the wild they split up after raising fry.

I just find it confusing because I have seen pics and videos of tanks that have many Angels and a friend of mine has 5 in a 55 gallon she has had for a few years .

5 in a 55 gal is pretty cramped. I tried it, and the angelfish weren't happy.

Sometimes things work, and sometimes they don't.

I guess I'm one for whom it didn't work but I love Angels so much that a single large and characterful cichlid is enough for one aquarium.

But I'm in good company. I note that even TakashI Amano could not keep Angels in a group in his own aquarium and took them out.
