Angel and serpaes?

Would my serpae tetras nip the fins of my angelfish if I moved the serpaes over to the tank with the angel?

I've read that Serpaes are a schooling fish. I had 9 serpaes with 3 angels and they got along fine. Apparently as long as you have a school of 6 or more serpaes they behave. If you only have 1 or 2 they may get mean.

 

I had 6 and they got really mean towards the angel. It could have been the leader of the pack that convinced them all to attack the angel.

tom, how big is your tank? Mine is pretty big and they had lots of room. Maybe that's why they left each other alone

 

It all happened in a 28 gallon tank.
