Anemone Issue

Hi,
So a few weeks ago I bought a bubble tip anemone for my 50L tank (about 8 months old and stable) I realised that it would soon outgrow the tank, so I plan on upgrading to a 250L sometime soon.

So the anemone settled in a little crevice and seemed happy for a good week or so, during which one of my clowns hosted it. However today it has decided to take a trip round my tank, and is now very close to some of my corals, and tube, all of which have grown into the rocks, is there a way of preventing the anemone moving onto them? Or even remove the anemone from the rock and put it where it was before?

Thanks,
Ethan

Hi,
It's really annoying , my frag tank has turned into a "coral refugee camp!" I managed to ease it off the rock, but I managed to poke a small hole in it, not near the foot... I hope it will be ok, however I'm not holding my breath. It seems ok at the moment.

Not an experienced nem keeper yet but have heard of others blasting it with flow from a powerhead in hopes of irritating it enough that it moves...

Another tactic I’ve heard MIGHT work is removing the rock the nem is on and tapping the underneath with a hammer, ideally where the foot is. In theory, the nems don’t like the vibration the hammering causes and will loosen its foot enough that it can be moved. I guess the trick is using the hammer without smashing through your rock lol.

I saw the powerhead method too... Id dry it but I don't have a spare one, in the end It moved to a smaller rock, so I took it out and gently shook it, it just fell off and reattached, I'm just worried about the hole I accidentally poked In it, do you think it'll recover?

Without nem experience myself... I do think yours should recover. After what you told me on Insta, it doesn't sound all that bad, and all living things do what they must to survive. In other words, I've found a lot of things to be a bit more resilient than we give them credit for.

That's good to hear, it has gone right round the tank and is under the pump, (it's got a cover to prevent it getting shredded) it doesn't look as happy as before, and I just wonder if this is stress.

Everything I've read says the absolute best way to get nems off a rock, if you can, is take the rock out and hold it, in the air, over a bucket. It will eventually let go but my take over an hour. I haven't been able to try because my rock is all one piece.

Ok, that's what I ended up doing, it had moved onto a rock I could remove, and it came off within a muinet.

This is a picture of it now, does it look ok?

Its open and looks good to me! Just keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't bleach, or let go and get sucked into a powerhead.

Ok, it seems to like that spot, annoying as I've had to take shroom mountin down , is it normal for it to go inside it's foot for no apparent reason? Or to act sort of 'floppy'? Is there any reason as to why it's going this?

Both my clownfish have hosted it too
