I’m doing a fishless cycle. Yesterday I added 28 drops of Ace ammonia (10% ammonia, not 100%) to my 10 gallon tank. I also added a bottled bacteria. After letting it all “mix in” for almost an hour, I tested with my API test kit and was getting ammonia results around 5.0 ppm. Now, do I repeat the 28 drops every day until I start seeing nitrate readings? Or do I not add any more and wait until I see nitrate readings?

Also, water changes while cycling: yes or no? If yes, how much, how frequent?

You should aim to add enough ammonia each day to keep the level at about 2.0. I would wait until it drops below 2.0 before adding more then only add enough to return it to 2.0. as for water changes You don't need to bother until your ammonia and nitrates drop to 0 within 24 hours of adding ammonia. Then you can start changes to reduce the nitrates to a level safe for adding fish.

Sorry I made a spelling mistake I meant ammonia and nitrites not nitrates should be 0 within 24 hours
