Ammonia Spike To 0,25 Ppm, What Should I Do

Hello,

I have:
  1. 23 gallon tank
  2. 74f
  3. 7,6 ph
After that my cycling was completed I did the following :
  1. I added 6 guppies on may 30.
  2. Already had 20 baby guppies on june 2
  3. Added 10 neon tetra on june 9
  4. Ammonia spike june 10 (Around 0.25, see picture below)
I have 2 questions :
  1. should I use a product to lower ammonia, do water change, or both?
  2. I guess I have an ammonia spike because I add too much fish for the bacteria I have?

Before adding my neon tetra, all reading was ok. See bellow.

Reading june 5th : (to the left, aquarium water, to the right, tap water). I barely had ammonia traces, and this was stable.

Reading june 9th (just before adding 10 neon tetra)

On june 10th, 24 hours after adding my neon tetra. Reading is not too far away (if not) of 0,25. On we can clearly see it is more that june 9. :

I hope you have homes for those babies, they’ll overstock your tank once they grow up.

You ideally should be doing 2-3 water changes weekly to keep the toxins down. You probably had a minI cycle from adding too many fish at the same time. The bacteria will catch up eventually but that many guppies won’t be good in that tank later on.

Thx.

Yeah, I`ll give all the baby guppies for free!

Ok, I`ll prepare water right now, adding prime and do water change tomorrow. Is 0,25 ammonia may kill my guppies or neon by tomorrow?

No it won’t but it should not stay at that for too long.

So, before doing my water change, I checked ammonia level and I was super happy to see the reading was lower from june 10th! BB are doing their job . I think the ammonia on picture below is around 0,15 now. With my WC of 20%, it is now safe.
