Ammonia Burn Or Fungus? Help! Adf & Platy

hi, my red platy has these splotches of white all over him and they were there yesterday but when I woke up this morning they were so much worse. I thought it might be fungus but I’m not sure if it might be ammonia burn.
I had to move him to a small 2 gallon tank that I had stashed away in my closet because I needed to rescape my tank. I had him in there for about 3 or 4 days max because I was waiting for some gravel in the mail. I added a little arch decoration that had some bacteria on it and I thought that would be enough but it obviously wasn’t. I forgot to test those 4 days and when I checked it was at 8 ppm ammonia and 5.0 ppm nitrite. Completely dark green and dark purple (API). I was terrified and I moved them into the bigger tank as soon as I could.
I have an African dwarf frog in there with him. He doesn’t have any signs at least not yet. I was going to dose some Melafix because I heard that’s safe for them and it cures fungus. Is this okay?
Thank you in advance.
Also, he won’t stop swimming against the current of the filter. It’s an integrated filter so the water comes in horizontally, kind of like a powerhead. I know my clownfish does this as playing in my reef, but my platy is doing it almost obsessively. He’s eating fine. But he goes right back after eating.

It almost sounds like both. I know for sure there is some ammonia burns but it also sounds like fungus since the current of then filter “scratches” them. I would dose with Melafix but dose it a tad bit less then what it needs.

Ok great, thank you so much. It says 5 ml per 10 gallons, I have a 5 gallon which would make it 2.5 ml. You said a little bit less, so around 2.0 ml once a day you would say? Thank you again.

Oh no! I’m so sorry for your loss . Yes 2 ml is good. Maybe your doing something wrong(don’t mean to sound rude just trying to help)? Freshwater should be easy. Do you have a filter? How do you do your water changes? Do you use a water conditioner? Are there any other “chemicals” you put in the tank?

thank you yes I have a filter. running charcoal. I do water changes once a week I do 2 gallons. now I do it once a day because it's re-cycling and I have my adf in there. I use an apI water conditioner, and I'm adding microbact7. everything was fine until my first one yellow swordtail had seizures for about 10 minutes and passed away from one day to another, water params were okay and then forward like 2 weeks now and I wanted to clean my rocks and rescape and I moved him over and yeah
thank you for all your help!
