Tank

What is the water volume of the tank? She's in a 20 gallon qt on my table
How long has the tank been running? September
Does it have a filter? Yes hob
Does it have a heater? Yes
What is the water temperature? 72
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.)
It's just the American Shubunkin
Maintenance
How often do you change the water? Daily to every other day. I test almost daily tho and water change off that & if there is waste / food left to do daily other wise I do every other day anyways
How much of the water do you change? 30-50%
What do you use to treat your water? Start right
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water?
She's bare bottom but yes, I siphon the bottom
*Parameters - Very Important
Did you cycle your tank before adding fish? Sure did!
What do you use to test the water? API/ jungle / tetra strips
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

Ammonia: .25 (I did recently with this tank and most screw up my cycle )
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: less than 20
pH: around 8.4

Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? Once/twice a day or every other day
How much do you feed your fish? A pinch / piece
What brand of food do you feed your fish? Wardlys once in a while, tetras flakes
Do you feed frozen or freeze-dried foods?
Frozen veggies

Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? Over a year ago
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? Sept 22 or 23 she had dropsy. Went I to a soak and went away in 10 hours , she's been qt'd ever since
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms? Her butts bloating and veiny. Won't stop.
Have you started any treatment for the illness? "Life guard all in 1" 5 day treatment, espom baths & soaked flakes with espom recently
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? No she was actually really healthy from Walmart
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all?

No actually she continues to swim, she eats, she's all over the tank, she swims up to me. She doesn't really ever sit.
I am unsure if I should euthanize her. Digs ( the fish ) is my sons and my favorite. But I'm unsure if I should try parasite meds first or any other treatment. I don't see her darting, she's twitched only once or twice in front of me. But she keeps swelling only in her BUM! WHY THE BUM. I wish I knew. She's getting bigger and bigger. I'm scared digs will explode. When she tries to swim fast she's so bloated that she then turns into a a sideways twister in the water. She's always swimming upright unless trying to swim quickly and she spirals.
Here are pictures of now.
Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)

1.) Should I euthanize
2.) Try parasite meds or any other remedies
3.) Let jer continue to swell and go peacefully

And honestly, I don't want to do #3 bc I don't want her to suffer just because I can't bare to lose her. She is so ACTIVE I'm at a loss guys!

Yikes! Any chance this is a female full of eggs? I don't know what time of year goldfish spawn....

If it's not eggs....

I would withhold food until whatever it is passes.... Sometimes they get intestinal blockages and it "Stops them up"...

Sometimes - but not always - this can be a sign of intestinal parasites....

BUT - if it's not coming out - running an anti-parasitic can make matters worse when a big knot of worms + food comes loose internally and massively blocks their intestines....

She's in this tub with tank water for pictures

I believe maturity is around 3years of age. She's like 4-5 inches head to tail. Friend mentioned before, my male hydro (he's bigger and yes they're in a 55 gallon tanks separate ) didn't have interest. I tried rubbing her belly and nothing came out but didn't try for long. Maybe I should try again?

They spawn early spring+ from what I've read and that's what my friends pond Goldie's do. Tho it's not too hard to put them in the mood to spawn.

If it's parasites then idk what to do. I'm really at a loss.

I actually discovered how easy it was when I didn't keep the water that I left in one tank at set degree. And added cooler water, let it slowly warm up to 72 this dip only went to like 70? And my male got those tubercles I believe they're called.

YIKES!!!!! That tub pic is something!

I don't know your $$$ threshold - but you probably ought to contact a fish vet about that... They may have to do surgery to deal with that...

Not the greatest until a couple more weeks I will call around. The closest I feel like would be Indy or Chicago. Which Indy is about 3 hours from me. Maybe my old town that's an hour away has one

Then I'd be worried about transportation. If she could handle it.

I'll be begin the stopping of feeds until something if something passes. But how long could she last ? I fed her last night and unsure how long one could go with out food. I'm so worried I actually cried over her the other night explaining to my husband about what I THINK this may be and her outcomes. And how our son who's almost 4 (he has development conditions so when he gets attached he gets really attached and it's like a coping thing. Aka digs) is going to feel. And I'm just so confused as to why her bum is swollen.

I intitally thought

1.) Bacteria/ fungus maybe
2.) Parasites
3.) Maybe eggs are stuck / constipation
4.) Some cancer/tumor

Had to do a 100 mile radar search. Nothing under 50. I would have to transport her to the state of Michigan.
