American flagfish (Cyprindon floridae) in a community tank?

Has anyone had American flagfish (Cyprindon floridae) in a community tank? After reading about them it seems they are peaceful fish but could be fin nippers? If that’s true I don’t know if they would be a good idea with my angelfish.

Great fish! Wouldn't do it. I haven't kept one in years but they are not recommended with flowing fins. In fact, they are rather aggressive nippers. I keep angelfish but wouldn't have put them together. Otherwise, they are good community fish with the right stock, like other small, thin bodied fast fish. They also eat algae. Rarely see them mentioned. Another underrated fish.

Yeah I was looking for top level fish and an algae eater and came across those and it was 2 for 1 plus they look really cool. Are they tiger barb aggressive or if they grow up with the angelfish will they be alright? The angelfish are about the size of a half dollar.

Tiger barbs can sometimes be reigned in by a larger group....not so with flagfish. That just seems to be their nature. They are just tempted by long fins and are better with faster swimmers. The casual pace of the angel I think would just be too tempting. If it wasn't an angel I'd be looking for a reason to get them. Loved the fish. You'd just need a ready backup plan.

Guess I’ll have to settle for clown killi and a BN
