10G Divided Betta Tank

Equipment:
Aqueon tank
Aqueon glass lid
2 sponge filters
50W heater
NICREW light
Sheila's Divider

Day One:

Final parts came in today! Set it up, added prime and quickstart, and it looks so good! This is supposed to be a planted tank, but I really need help with the plants, I want small in front, but large in back. I have a decent light on them, and bought flourish tabs. Where can I buy plants? they aren't that nice at petsmart, but I have no idea where to look online!

Stocking:
Dumbo Male Betta
Halfmoon/Rosetail Male Betta
RCS or Amano Shrimp

Still looking for a place to get my betta from! Please let me know where I can get them!

5G Betta Tank

Equipment:
Topfin Retreat w In-tank Filter

Day One:

A little back story: my friend has had his betta since april, neglected, let to me while on vacation, gave back, then got tired of him and finally gave him to me, he is living in a one gallon, but I bought him a 5 today, it will be cycling with my other two tanks the next few weeks, while he gets daily water changes.
Anyway, I planned to get a cheap 3 gallon for him but they had a nice $60 5 gallon on sale for $25! I snagged it, and it's gorgeous. Set it up, added prime and API quickstart, and letting it run for the night. All I need is a heater for it! The sand has been absolute pain, and it's still cloudy after adding a clearing agent. I really want to plant this tank! The LED seems good enough, and as I mentioned, I have the tabs. But what types of plants should I do?

Stocking:
Jason the sad veiltail

Jason hasn't been looking to good, and even worse since I last saw him a few weeks ago. Clean water, prime, and salt baths it is!

Anyway. That's my mess of tanks right now!

Tomorrow I will be FINALLY starting ammonia to cycle the tanks. I've waited over a month just to get and set everything up! So exciting! Thank you all for listening!

I like what you did with the two little islands surrounded by rocks.

Day Two

Picked up some Fluval Bug Bites for Jason, he liked them, tho I may have overfed a bit He looks a bit bloated. I still am struggling with how to treat him for his fins.

Nothing changed besides ammonia being added! I am using Ace Hardwares ammonia. It has about 10% straight ammonia. I first added 5 drops, it showed this
IMG_4520.JPG
Waited half hour, added 4 more

IMG_4526.JPG
Waited half hour, added 4 more

IMG_4528.JPG
Waited half hour, added 5 more anddd finally

IMG_4532.JPG
Looks like it hit 4ppm. I was trying to get all of my tanks to this, trial and error! It took 18 drops to get it here, and tomorrow I will check it at this time tomorrow, add about 1/4-3/4 of that, depending on what it's level is at.

10G Divided
I struggled with this a bit, trying to keep it even between the divider, but I did do it! I dosed the same as above, with the same method. Here are the progression pics.

Again, I will be doing the method explained above!

5G Betta
This one was tricky, with it being 5, and not 10. But I did it anyway! I ended up with 11 drops in the end, but it was a little big darker than the others!

Overall, pretty successful day! just a little stressed about Jason

I may be confused but did you dose the tank with the betta in it?

Hey! Those tanks are gorgeous! I really like the five gallon one.
For some easy plants...Anubias and java ferns are low light and seem to do well, just have them tied to rocks or driftwood so the rhizome isn’t buried...
Also I’m not super sure but you might now want to add prime and the quick start at the same time, if that’s also bottled bacteria. Seems similar to TSS so this guide might be helpful for you Q & A With Tetra about Tetra SafeStart

Nope! He's in the 1G that my friend gave him to me in. He will be going into the 5G, though.

Thanks for the plants! And oh, oh well! I guess I could have killed them all off, oops! But since the ammonia is already in, I guess I'll add more quickstart right before I add fish Thanks!
