Amazon Swords and fish waste

I’m just wondering, could accumulating fish waste be used as fertilizer for amazon swords? They feed heavily by roots and if the waste sinks into the gavel I don’t see why not. Anyone know if this could work?

Well, waste doesn't provide much nutrients and minerals the plant needs. I would stick to root tabs

Well, my sword has done fantastic without root tabs. Then again there’s lots and lots of poop to go around with 50 baby mystery snails and a betta. I gave it one root tab when I first got it then never touched it since (it’s been about a year, way past the time to replace the root tab) and it is doing fabulous. Just depends on the conditions I suppose! Here’s before and after.

The measley plant on the right is when I first got it
Now it is absolutely massive. It’s basically that whole plant mass right there

I had one take a whole 20 gallon over, before I even knew how to set up a planted tank. Never gave it any ferts or plant substrate. Just a deep gravel bed with fish waste. Wish I had a picture.

Great sword there

I'm sure with 20 mystery snails pooping it provides pretty good nutrients to the plant except for a few..

Haha! Yep! And I also dose liquid frets although I doubt it gets any cause they are root feeders. Plus I’m sure the duckweed, wisteria, pathos, and anubias steal it all before the sword gets any.
