Amano shrimp Molt or Dead

Added 3 Amano shrimp to my tank 2 days ago. Looked pretty closely for them today and I only saw 1 hanging out on a java fern. There are many hiding places in the plants and hardscape. I did find this(pics below). It kind of looks like a molt but I have a hard time believing it molted withinn a day of adding it.

Tank is fully cycled but still pretty new.
7 gallon tank, 78 preset heater.
6 ember tetras
lots of plants
Water parameters are good, using remineralized RO
pH 7.4-7.6
nh3 0ppm
no2 0ppm
no3 5-10 ppm
gh 5-6'
kh 4-5'

Is this a molt or is it a dead shrimp?

That's a moult, for sure! The crack between the head and thorax is a dead giveaway.

Also, welcome to FishLore!

It appears to be a molt, when I was a "Newbie". I had the same happen, I thought "Oh, No!
Turns out it was a molt, What a relief, Whew!

Good Luck!

I have had shrimp molt the very night after getting new ones, both amano and neocaridinas. When they molt every 3-6 weeks, I guess if you get enough, you're bound to see it soon after buying.
I found this article that might give you more information:

As the others have said, that's definitely a molt. By the way, for neocaridina shrimp it's recommended to leave those in the tank, since the shrimp will eat them to replace minerals (though maybe not the same shrimp it came from). I assume the same is true for amanos.

Thanks for the replies.
I was aware shrimp molted from my research I wasn't expecting a molt that fast I guess.
Additonally I did leave it in place, as I had read that they do eat molts to replace chitosan.
That's good news. I also did see a second one so there are at least 2 of 3 accounted for.

I will continue to play "where's waldo"

On a side note, I did notice one of the two I saw definitely looked 'clearer' or more transparent maybe thats the one that molted.
Thanks again everybody
