Amano Shrimp In A 5.5 Gallon

My mom wants me to put amano shrimp in her empty 5.5 gallon tank. I could house 8 of them and I can I do only 10% weekly water changes or do I need 20% and I have to house less than 8?

Shrimp leave next to no bioload, so 10% will be fine provided the tank is cycled. Is the tank cycled?

 

You won't know for sure until you see how many nitrates they produce over a couple of weeks and test your water. I recommend the API Master test kit.

 

yes, the tank is cycled. it used to be home of a betta. I think ill buy 6 of them for the tank. Or maybe 8 and then they will have a amano shrimp colony. =)

 

They won't breed, but won't have much bioload either.
