Where do you live that it would take 3 months to get an Amazon purchase? If you're that remote, it will affect recommendations available to you.

Straight up just Canada. If it's not prime, it takes ages. It's not remote, I just don't live in Alberta or Ontario, who I assume have normal shipping times.

Just do it the traditional way without a bacterial additive. Alternatively- do you know anyone you trust with a cycled tank who could give you some filter media?
Do you have a liquid test kit?
If you do fish-in...
If ammonia & nitrites = or > 1.0 do a 50% water change & dose with water conditioner, retest in 24 hours. If ammonia + Nitrite <1.0 dose with Prime & retest in 24 hours. Stock very slowly.

I wish I knew someone with an established tank. That would be beautiful.

Yes, I have a test kit. Ammonia was at 1ppm today and was at 0.75ppm yesterday. I just did a water change though, so I'm not sure what it's at currently.

The problem arose when I added a snail. Ammonia was in control before then. (I now realize a snail was not the smartest idea).

I'll get some prime.

Thanks for your help
