Alternanthera Reineckii Mini roots

I just purchased six stems of alternanthera reineckiI minI . Before I planted them they were really tall. So I cut the stems in half and planted. It's been about a week and the plants are growing roots not only from under the soil but from the top part of the plant down to the soil. Do I need to cut and propagate again because there's still about 4 to 6 inches long .some of them .or will they just continue to do this until they get good root system. I have a 29 gallon with highlight Fluval stratum substrate and I dose fertilizers once or twice a week. Can anyone help anyone know what's going on? Thanks and be safe!

That’s the thing with stem plants. They all send out roots from anywhere on the stem. You can just clip off the root if you don’t like the look.

Ok thanks !! I'll keep it in mind . It's my first time with it. And I'm thinking about just splitting it again and try and Bush it up and keep it low .

I have a long way to go with this tank be for getting my fish so hopefully I'll get something looking nice.

I would leave it for now.... AR doesn’t love being fussed with too much... let it establish....

Word of caution... I’m hoping you 1) have pressurized co2 or 2) don’t have high lighting...
To get high lighting to the bottom of a 29 would need co2 or you will quickly have an algae farm on your hands...

I have high lighting and my co2 will be here Sunday . Tank is fine , no signs of algae.

No my apologies if I came off in that way myself I didn't take it offensive at all ! I take everyone's advice seriously !! Unless it's just crazy then I'll do more research lol .But from the other day there is just a tiny amount of green algae on the back glass. I'm now turning my light on for shorter periods of time. Re housed fish . Untill I get my co2 dialed in . But I do appreciate you very much !

My co2 kit came in today and is now running .I have it set to 1 bubble a sec . Until the diffusers get soaked. And then I'll adjust from there. I do have a glass checker on the other side of the diffuser across the tank to help keep an eye on it and adjustment and range.
