All Tests Reading 0ppm on Cycled Tank - HUH?

HI everyone. This morning, I pulled the divider out of my 10 gallon cycled tank, cleaned everything, sihoned the gravel, which was very clean, and did a 40% water change. New filter cartridge added.

This tank now holds only Wink Jack Sparrow, my betta - lucky duck! I decided I am not wanting to deal with divided tanks and multiple everythings.

Anyway, for no particular reason I decided to test water in all my tanks. Ammonia, Nitrites & Nitrates were all 0ppm. ??? I did the nitrate test twice, just to be sure.

Last time I checked Nitrates, Sept 7, they were 5ppm

Checked nitrites Sept9 - 0ppm

Sept 16 - 30% water change
Sept 19 Ammon 0ppm, Nitrite 0ppm

Is my cycle screwed up? There were 3 days of Maracyn Plus treatment inthe tank, when I called the company, they said it would not kill the beneficial bacteria.

Should I add more Bio Spira, or keep checking water parameters for the next couple of days.

Thanks. Val

I would check the water in a couple days and keep an eye on your fish. but if you vaccumed your gravel too much you may have caused a minI cycle. keep checking though

I will be checking often. I didn't gravel vac much because the substrate seemed pretty good, not a lot of goo coming up, but some. So I just pulled the ornaments and cleaned them, put them back.

I might have to contac Marineland about adding more Bio Spira. My one little betta doesn't make too much mess, since I hand feed him.

Did you remember to shake your #2 bottle of nitrate solution really well? The other day I did that and got a false reading on nitrates.
Wink is truly lucky.
You may be having a minI cycle as you stated you "cleaned everything, AND CHANGED the filter cartridge. By tomorrow you should be able to tell.
Good Luck, you are a great mom, and he'll be fine.

Boy did I shake that bottle, I made that mistake long ago!!!! LOL .I tested again this morning, and parameters are the same. I am waiting a reply from Marineland to see if I should add more Bio Spira, since I happen to have some on hand. Wink Jack Sparrow is one pretty happy camper, just cruising around that tank...I can't imagine keeping them in a little bowl when you see them in a larger tank. Once I get this cycle thing straightedned out, I think I am going to put 3 cories in there with him. There are lots of good hiding places, so they will have fun.

IO don't know what I was thinking...actually I wasn't thinking, I switched the filter for a smaller one, since the current was so high and just threw him around when he swam other. He was just used to a little filter on his side of the 10 gallon divided. Then I switched back....and put some filter media in the outflow.Screwing up the media didn't enter my mind.

Holy Moley....this hobby sure is a "live and learn" thing, isn't it. Thanks. I will post when I hear from Marineland. Val
